Simon Perry - Chief Executive of the Irish Film Board

Simon Perry

After an early career in theatre and television production, Simon Perry entered the British film industry in 1974. Over the next eight years, he worked as an independent filmmaker, as a trade journalist for Variety, and as head of the National Film Development Fund. In 1982, he set up his own production company, Umbrella Films, which has produced or co-produced 10 feature films to date. Between 2000 and 2005 Perry worked as a course designer and lecturer at the International Film School in Cologne, as film production consultant for the Republic of Macedonia’s minister of culture and as a film selection correspondent for the Cannes Film Festival.

Perry holds the French honour of Chevalier de lOrdre des Arts et Lettres and that of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

Afolabi Adesanya - Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation

Afolabi Adesanya

Afolabi Adesanya is a filmmaker with extensive working experience as film/art critic, photojournalist, and television director. He worked with The Guardian (Lagos) as a staff writer/photojournalist, and Newswatch magazine as its pioneer Photo Editor. In 1986, he had a solo photographic exhibition, sponsored by USIS and ILFORD, at USIS, Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a co-founder of A-PRODUCTIONS for which he produced and co-wrote VIGILANTE (1988); wrote and directed OSE SANGO (1991), both 16mm feature films. OSE SANGO (SANGO’S WAND) won the Hubert Ogunde Foundation Award for the Best Nigeria Film of the Year (1992, maiden edition). He worked as Assistant Director on Ladi Ladebo’s PARIAH (1994), a 16mm feature film; also POWER (1998) and BABA ZAK (1999), both 35mm feature films. He has directed several T.V series.

Susan Wamburi - Film Director, Scriptwriter & Producer with the Kenyan Ministry of Information and Communication

Susan has directed many documentaries and newsreels for government policies on Social, Economic, Culture, Development and Tourism promotion. Among the Documentaries is “LAMU, A SPLENDOUR OF HERITAGE which won Chairman’s Award at the Zanzibar International Festival in 2004 and HALTING THE SPREAD OF DESERTS which was screened in Rome during the Desert Nights International film Festival 2005

Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen

Lancelot popularly referred to as Governor by his colleagues in the Nigerian Film Industry is one of Nollywood's most prominent/prolific directors; Lancelot Imasuen is the creative force behind popular movies like GAMES WOMEN PLAY, EMOTIONAL CRACK, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, etc. The Award winning director and producer is a leading representative of the Nollywood Movie Industry. He is one of the first new breed Nigerian producers to develop a foothold in Hollywood."...With a $200, 000 non-union budget film titled, Friendly Enemy Imasuen has also succeeded in entering a major deal with three Hollywood companies that might see coming into fruition the much-expected Nollywood/Hollywood collaboration.
