Schools in The South East of Ireland are invited to produce a 2-5-minute
short film exploring their Positive perceptions of Africa.
The competition is open to any genre of short, e.g. fiction, documentary,
animation, experimental video, etc. and can be on any theme but should
highlight positive side of Africa.
The competition aims to:
Increase students’ knowledge
and understanding of Africa
Introduce students to the art
of film making
Stimulate creativity in
students and
Provide a platform for
students’ works to be showcased in a professional environment and to film
lovers and pundits.
Guidelines
Entries are free to all schools
Each school can submit up to a
maximum of 3 entries
Entries can be part of
Transition Year Student Projects
All shortlisted film will be
screened in VISUAL & George Bernard Shaw Theatre in April 2012. Schools will be notified of exact date
shortly.
Winners will be announced
following the screening of shortlisted films on in April 2012
Closing date for entries is
Friday, March 30th 2012
Entries must be on DVD format
and must be accompanied by an application form which can be downloaded below.
Winners will be decided by the selection
committee as appointed by Carlow Africa Film Festival. Decisions of the
committee are final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding this
decision.
